Dropbox

Have you ever heard of Dropbox?  I have been using this since last year and it has been a lifesaver!  With Dropbox I no longer need to cart my thumbdrive back and forth between home and work! I also don't need to worry about remembering which computer I saved my school files to.  Dropbox is a free Web-based file hosting service operated by Dropbox, Inc. that uses cloud computing to enable users to store and share files and folders with others across the Internet using file synchronization.  I have a small icon on my home computer and my work computer. I can click on that and open my files regardless of where I am. I can also designate certain files for sharing with my grade-level coworkers (if you share a file, the recipient also needs to have Dropbox downloaded) which has made it easier for us to collaborate on creating things for our grade level.

Halloween Candy Corn Math Game!

This game is a fun way to practice basic addition facts during October or as a game during Halloween or Fall parties. Give each student a small cup of pieces of candy corn. Students play the game with a partner. Partners take turn rolling two dice and adding the addends. They put a candy corn on the sum. The game is over when one player ends up with 3 pieces on "7." Students may then enjoy their candy corn treats! Head over to my TPT store to check it out.

Fall Halloween M and M Sorting, Tallying and Graphing Center Available in my TPT Store

Included in this packet are activities for graphing the Halloween or fall M&Ms -brown, yellow, red, and purple(or burgundy) that are for sale in stores during September and October. This packet includes sheets for estimating, tallying, graphing (bar graph and pie graph), making fractions and writing about M&M graph data. I've included a harder graphing sheet that asks students to use < > = to analyze their data and an easier version for 1st grade or lower that asks students to do addition with their data. Head over to my TPT store to have a look.

Blabberize! - A Fun & Easy Site To Create Talking Pictures

With Blabberize, you can upload any picture and make it talk. Simply upload your picture, place the mouth, and record your audio. It's very east to create and fun! It really hooks the students in when presented in a lesson. I'm thinking it would be a really fun way to give a spelling test just to change things up a bit! It's so easy students could master using it as well.

My Favorite Way to Backup Files

DropBox is my favorite ways to back up files. I use this service for my reading interactive whiteboard files that I access everyday and constantly change. It's so handy to have the files available to me both at home and at school without having to remember to bring my flashdrive back and forth.

Ms. Durning at Second Grade is Splendid posted this resource on her blog. It's such an amazing collection of interactive sites that would be perfect for anyone with an IWB that I had to share. Everything is already organized into subject and skill areas. I will be bookmarking this site for future reference when planning activities to extend our learning on the Mimio IWB I have in my classroom.
